Qualifications:

• Associates Degree from an accredited school of sonography.

• Certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardio CCI required within 18 months of start date.

• Current unrestricted class-appropriate Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle record with no infractions in the past three years required.

• CPR required by completion of the unit-specific orientation and before working independently.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in ultrasound required.

• Perform the highest quality imaging consistent with prescribed examination, document deviations.

• Review and confirm physician orders, and confirm insurance authorization, if required, before performing the exam.

• Routinely question patient before a procedure to obtain a history and document all pertinent information.

• Explain the test to the patient. Instruct and assist the patient before, during and after the exam.

• Be able to access patient pain or anxiety interfering with imaging procedure; make appropriate physician contact for intervention.

• Maintain composure during crisis, emergency and volume situations.

• Prioritize patients to complete the most critical patients first.

• Demonstrate good critical thinking and judgment in handling situations not covered in written or verbal instructions.

• Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.
